The Arizona Wildcats beat the Texas Tech Raiders, 28-14 last night at Arizona Stadium. Khalil Tate ran for 129 yards including a sweet 84 yard run in the 2nd quarter that gave the Cats a 7 point lead. In an awesome performance that shows what athletic talent he has, Tate not only ran for for a TD, but passed for one as well. He was aided by the outstanding Wildcat defense who held the Raiders to only 14 points, their least allowed against a non-Pac-12 Power Five team since 2013. Some notables:
Arizona scored on all 3 trips into the red zone
The Cats didn’t even attempt a pass in the fourth quarter.
The Cats had two interceptions and have 8 in only three games so far this year. They had seven in all of the 2018 season.
AZ even had a 99 yard drive in the fourth quarter, the first time they’ve gone that far in a decade.
Tate has amassed a total of 2110 yards rushing in his time in Tucson. He’s the only QB to reach 2000 yards in school history.
Junior RB Gary Brightwell had two rushing touchdowns.
