Jujitsu
Jujitsu was created by the Japanese
samurai caste for hand-to-hand combat. Translated, it means "the soft art".
Jujitsu emphasizes the use of leverage and technique to overcome an
opponent. It's a comprehensive system of hand-to-hand combat skills:
punching and kicking, throws and escapes, weapon defenses, ground fighting,
and rolling and falling techniques.
Because of its wide range of skills (striking, grappling, throwing,
falling, joint locks and chokes) jujitsu is a very effective form of
self-defense. In fact, most of the defensive tactics that are taught
to the armed forces and police departments of many countries are derived
from jujitsu.
The jujitsu style offered at the Kodenkan Martial Arts Academy is called
Matsunoryu Goshinjitsu.

Youth Judo/Jujitsu is a self-defense martial art
designed to promote self-confidence, self-discipline and youth

The study of Jujitsu (Japanese for “gentle art” ) focuses on using an opponents
own force against them. Used primarily for self-defense, Jujitsu incorporates
throws, pins and escape techniques. Self-defense is not the only benefit, however;
Jujitsu also emphasizes respect, goal-setting, self-confidence, self-discipline,
teamwork, coordination and physical fitness.
Classes taught in a fun, safe
atmosphere with an emphasis on when it is appropriate to use these
skills and when it is not. |

Welcome to Matsuno
Ryu Goshinjitsu. The foundation of this modern jujitsu system was
introduced in 1947 as Kajukenbo. Matsuno Ryu has maintained many
of the jujitsu skills once taught in Kajukenbo by two of the co-founders
Joseph Holck and Peter Choo. |

Hawaii in 1932 by Judo Master, Professor H.S. Okazaki. This traditional

to Judo emphasizing self-defense rather than competition.
